Saturday 28 September 2019 is World Deaf Day, which aims to draw the attention of the general public, politicians and development authorities to the performance of the community of the deaf and hard of hearing. In EASY various data can be found regarding deafness.

Dr. Canan Çakirlar and Esther Scheele received a KDP grant in 2017 for their project: Van Giffen’s Dogs. A financial aid to ensure that a collection of biometric data of 488 dog skulls were digitized and published in EASY.

The fourth week of the new open online course: Delivering Research Data Management Services has started successfully. Week 4 focuses on repositories: certification, metadata, sharing and legal issues.

Recently, the NARCIS science portal has displayed a so-called “Altmetric icon” in a large number of publications. This icon indicates which citations these publications have on social media.

Every year DANS offers a contribution towards the costs of participating in the Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research of the ICPSR in the United States. Participants Rik Joosen and Willemijn Bezemer enthusiastically report on their experiences.

During the last Library Carpentry-Mozilla Global Sprint, 34 sprinters from 31 organizations added 6 additional topics to the Top 10 FAIR Data & Software Things. DANS participated.

The third week of the new open online course: Delivering Research Data Management Services has started successfully. Week 3 focuses on how a data management plan (DMP) can be put into practice, the development of DMP websites and DMP services.

In 2016 Douwe Zeldenrust received a KDP grant (small data project) on behalf of the Diary Data project of the Meertens Institute (KNAW). The project focused on digitizing the metadata from the collection of diaries and ego documents from the Dutch Diary Archive.
