Open call research proposals: Bessensap 2020

24 February 2020

On Friday June 12 NWO will organise the 2020 edition of Bessensap, in collaboration with VWN! Around 350 journalists, press officers and researchers will meet to exchange knowledge on the latest developments in science and communication and network with colleagues.

To shape its programme content, NWO is looking for scientists who are interested in presenting their research to a large audience of science journalists and communicators. We challenge researchers at all levels to submit a proposal: we are just as open to talented young researchers as to those with a long record of scientific achievement. Presentations of research that is not being funded by NWO are also more than welcome. Your presentation should be topical, newsworthy, and media-friendly, containing recent or imminent results, for instance, surprising new insights, or a new avenue of research. We’d like to ask you to highlight the media value of your message during your presentation. The presentation should be accessible to the interested layperson, and must not be subject to an embargo.

We select the most mediagenic and newsworthy entries for a presentation at Bessensap. To improve your chances of being included in the programme, we ask you to include a video clip in which you explain your proposal in more detail (max. 2 minutes) and demonstrate your presentation skills. A link to an existing video is also allowed.

Research stories that are not selected, will be brought to the attention in another way. Your submission is therefore always useful.
