FAIRsFAIR launches an online course for data stewards

18 January 2022

FAIRsFAIR together with  EOSC Synergy have recently launched a brand new course. The objective of the course is to equip participants from universities or research-performing organisations with data stewardship skills and knowledge to better support researchers.

In this course participants will learn the skills and gain knowledge on how to be successful data stewards. Five self-paced modules prepared by a team of international experts will guide them step by step through relevant topics for their daily work. Each module takes on average one hour to complete.

The course addresses a range of topics associated with data stewardship. The material covers FAIR and open data, learning pedagogy and training design, open and responsible research, data management planning, and RDM service delivery. All five modules are introductory, allowing learners to choose to follow them all or pick the ones that are most relevant to them.

Reuse of materials

In line with the FAIR principles, the majority of the training material in the course has been reused and adapted from previous online data steward/instructor training workshops in 2020 and 2021. The purpose of these workshops was to support the development of data stewardship skills among staff in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and other research performing organisations. All training materials are available for download in Zenodo.

More information

The course is hosted on the EOSC Synergy learning platform. This platform offers a range of courses and services for researchers and research support staff.
