DANS training at NWO Life 2021

21 May 2021

On Thursday 27 May, DANS trainers Maaike Verburg and Cees Hof will make you “FAIR Aware” during the NWO Life2021, a unique annual conference covering all domains within the Dutch life sciences.

Whether you are a biomolecular researcher or marine ecologist, your research data need to be as FAIR as possible and stored in a safe and sound repository. That is why DANS participates in the practical workshops that are embedded in the programme of the annual NWO Life congress. The training is part of the session: “Plan ahead: practical tools to make your data and software more FAIR” and is held between 13:00 and 13:50 (CEST).

FAIR Aware

Turning you research data into Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data, can be a challenge. Fortunately there is a steadily growing number of FAIR data and FAIR software tools, guidelines, assessment procedures and other supportive systems. Within the several break-out training sessions provided at NWO Life, Maaike Verburg will demonstrate FAIR Aware, an online tool developed by the FAIRsFAIR project. With your own research data in mind, the tool will guide you through a series of essential questions, raising awareness and understanding of the FAIR principles for your research data.

Find your repository

The choice of a proper repository for your research data, during or after your research, will determine the FAIRness of your research data to a large extent. However, which repository to choose? There are literally thousands of options. Trainer Cees Hof will help you consider the criteria that are relevant for your research data, your personal situation and your thoughts about FAIR and open research data. “Find your repository” tools and websites will be used to gain insight into the steps and choices to be made, choosing your ultimate data repository.
