FAIRsFAIR, SSHOC and EOSC-Nordic have each offered support to repositories who are seeking certification as a TDR and are seeking to sustain the efforts. This workshop was an initial meeting to increase the presence and strengthen the voice of European TDRs. The goal of the workshop was to explore the ideas and needs within the community to see whether such a network can be created and facilitated based on the initial efforts of these projects. DANS is the project lead of FAIRsFAIR and also leads the work package that engages in the topic of a European network of TDRs. The recently published project deliverable D4.4 on the Coordination Plan for a sustainable network of FAIR-enabling Trustworthy Digital Repositories presented some initial steps in realising this network, including this workshop. DANS’ Ilona von Stein, Ingrid Dillo, and Linas Cepinskas presented their expertise on the topic alongside colleagues from SSHOC, EOSC-Nordic, and the European Commission. Read more about our expertise on certification of digital archives on this page.
Attendees took part in an interactive discussion and provided valuable input about the goals, challenges, possible contributors, and future steps for such a network. This input will be taken forward into a white paper that will be drafted by DANS and other volunteering repositories and organisations to take back to the community. This paper can then be the foundation of concrete actions to realise the creation of the network.
