The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. At the end of April 2019, DANS, the Software Sustainability Institute (UK) and the Netherlands eScience Center, organized their third workshop on the sustainability of software. The Workshop on Sustainable Software Sustainability focused on everyone who makes, purchases or maintains software, in particular in science and the heritage sector. The report of this workshop was recently published.

Incendiary letter from young scientists to Dutch government

Knowledge is lost, potential innovations stagnate and careers become frustrated. In short, these are the consequences of the corona crisis for young scientists if nothing happens. Reason enough for the PhD Network Netherlands, PostdocNL and De Jonge Akademie to send an incendiary letter to the government on behalf of all Dutch Young Academies, requesting a continuity package of € 350 million.
