OpenAIRE and DANS

25 November 2019

OpenAIRE stands for Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe. The purpose of OpenAIRE is to support the Open Science policy of the European Commission. The EC wants publications and datasets that are funded with European research funding to be open access. The web page of the Research Data Management task force contains a large number of products that support the open access to research data.

Together with TU/Delft, DANS forms the National Open Access Desk (NOAD) for the Netherlands. The NOAD informs the research institutions about EC policy in the field of Open Science and the support that OpenAIRE can offer.

DANS is also involved with OpenAIRE as task leader of the Taskforce Research Data Management (RDM). The purpose of the Task Force is to increase the knowledge of the NOADs with regard to RDM. The RDM Taskforce of OpenAIRE consists of NOADs from a large number of European countries. Under the leadership of DANS, it develops various products in the field of Research Data Management: blogs, webinars, guides for researchers and more.

An overview of these products (and an overview of the participants) can be found on the web page of the taskforce. There are Guides for Researchers for example: “Data formats for preservation” or “How to deal with sensitive data”, but also webinars about Persistent Identifiers, and a useful overview of “RDM: Train the trainer resources” in Europe.
