Now in E-data & Research: guest columnist Pearl Dykstra

3 June 2019

Pearl Dykstra argues in her column for a multidisciplinary approach, because great science can arise through collaboration.

Dykstra is professor of Empirical Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam and vice-chairman of the High Level Group of scientists who advise the European Union.

“It is important to pay attention to individual disciplines within the social sciences and humanities, and to invest in substantive cooperation across the boundaries of disciplines. A national vision and research agenda benefits from a common infrastructure, one that facilitates access to and reuse of data, monitors coordination between data collections, promotes interoperability of data sets, helps maintain crucial long-term data collections, and enables improvement of data collection methods”.
