DANS at Sharing is Caring conference

14 November 2019

The Sharing is Caring conference takes place at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on 22 November. During the conference, heritage institutions share their ideas and best practices in the field of digital collections and open data.

DANS is also involved in the event. Herbert Van de Sompel, Chief Innovation Officer at DANS, is part of the program committee. Ingrid Dillo, deputy director of DANS, will give a presentation about FAIR data as a keynote. In her presentation Ingrid Dillo will talk about research data management and the concepts of FAIR and TRUST. The sharing and re-use of data, information and knowledge around the globe poses many challenges. According to the European Commissioner Moedas data sharing “…requires a common language as vehicle and carrier, and the “language” is named FAIR.”

In addition, Marjan Grootveld, senior policy officer at DANS, will provide a ‘lightening talk’. During this session she presents a evaluation tool for assessing data sets on their FAIRness. This tool has been developed for researchers, data librarians and repository staff.
