PATTERN

Promote the practice of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (Open RRI) by developing and piloting training activities

Status: Ongoing
Duration: 2023 - 2026
Contact: Loek Brinkman Ph.D.

PATTERN’s general aim is to promote the practice of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (Open RRI) by developing and piloting training activities for researchers at all stages of their careers. Specifically, the project focuses on eight areas: open access, FAIR data management, research integrity, science communication, management and leadership, dissemination and exploitation of results, citizen science, and gender, non-discrimination and inclusion in research.

The training modules, co-created with the pilot institutions, will strengthen researchers’ transferable skills, with the ultimate goal to empower Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and research organizations to embrace a transformative process to improve the excellence of the science conducted, the capacity within the European Research Area (ERA) to tackle societal challenges, and the interaction between science and society.

DANS is involved in most aspects of the project, like the initial mapping of existing training materials, the developing of new training materials, and implementing training activities at a university/research institution in the Netherlands.

PATTERN is a project of 3.5 years funded by Horizon Europe: the European Union’s funding programme for research and innovation.
