The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) project aims to make it easier for researchers to share and combine data, also across disciplinary boundaries. EOSCpilot, a Horizon 2020 project, supports the first phase (two years) of the EOSC.
Over the next five years, the European Union is investing two billion euro to connect fragmented European research infrastructures and realise the EOSC. In this context, it will be made mandatory for researchers to make data from EU-funded research available under the FAIR principles, i.e. data must be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. The EOSC is part of the overall European Cloud Initiative, which ultimately aims to connect business, industry and public facilities through the cloud. The goal of the current two-year project is to start up the EOSC initiative.
DANS is one of the 33 project partners in the EOSCpilot. It will contribute in particular to the development of Open Science quality standards and policies, the design of a skills framework for Open Science and to the communication with research communities in the humanities, social sciences, and related disciplines.
