A European research infrastructure has been developed within ARIADNEplus, successfully integrating almost 4 million archaeological datasets. ARIADNE stands for Advanced Research Infrastructure for Archaeological Dataset Networking in Europe. In December 2022 after 4 years of work and building on the results of the first ARIADNE project, ARIADNEplus was completed with the portal as main deliverable. Researchers, European archaeological organisations, cultural heritage specialists, policymakers and other archaeology enthusiasts can now easily admire archaeological collections from more than 50 different countries online. Archaeological objects, data of excavations and surveys, as well as reports, photographs and databases are searchable through a generic search, or by a more specific way of searching using a timeline (from the Stone Age to the present), points on the map or by selecting thematic topics.

As a partner of ARIADNEplus, DANS ensured that the Data Station Archaeology was included in the new infrastructure, making the data internationally accessible via the portal. Furthermore, DANS provided leadership and shared expertise on sustainable accessibility of high-quality data in a trustworthy archive environment.
