ODISSEI (Open Data Infrastructure for Social Science and Economic Innovations) is the national research infrastructure for the Dutch social sciences.
The infrastructure is a collaborative consortium of more than 40 member organisations, including social sciences faculties in the Netherlands, CBS, public research agencies, and research institutes. DANS is also a member of ODISSEI.
Its explicit aim is to unite the social sciences and create a common, national infrastructure for research.
From 2020 to 2024 ODISSEI was one of the large scientific infrastructures to receive funding from NWO within the Dutch national Roadmap for Large-scale Research Infrastructures to further develop the infrastructure.
In the context of that project, DANS was involved in the development of the ODISSEI Portal where researchers can find Dutch social sciences datasets for reuse. In addition, DANS has been involved in the creation of ODISSEI policies around FAIR-data and DANS is organizing training activities in collaboration with ODISSEI.
Since 2024, the ODISSEI infrastructure is being further developed in collaboration with CLARIAH within the SSHOC-NL (Social Science and Humanities Open Cloud for the Netherlands) project.
