Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

The year 2018 was full of open access and FAIR-data. The data archives at DANS experienced quite a growth. Most research centres and (applied science) universities have access to a repository for research data. Although research data have increasingly become more open and shared, concerns have risen as well: concerning the protection of privacy of the individual (respondents, patients) and the ability to replicate the results of research.

European research-funds will cooperatively publish requirements for datamanagement plans and set standards for repositories. The international focus will be on further application of the FAIR principles; more and more research data will become Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

We hope to continue working on excellent accessibility of digital research data in 2019.
