The EASY General Terms and Conditions of Use apply to you if you have an EASY account.
The DANS License applies to you when using datasets of the following access categories: “Open Access for Registered Users” and “Restricted Access” (“Permission Request” or “Archaeology Group”).
Why this revision?
The introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has made it necessary to revise the existing terms and conditions.
What’s new?
EASY General Terms and Conditions of Use These terms and conditions now only apply to the use of EASY; they no longer apply to reusing datasets. In addition to adjustments in the context of the GDPR, the existing terms and conditions remain unchanged, but they have been made more explicit. A new condition is the requirement to provide truthful account information and keep it updated. (For the sake of completeness, a link to the current general terms and conditions of use can be found here.
DANS Licence The DANS Licence sets out the conditions for reusing datasets. In addition to adjustments in the context of the GDPR, the existing conditions, such as the citation requirement, remain unchanged. The DANS Licence now explicitly stipulates that the user must comply with the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws and regulations.
Start date
The EASY General Terms and Conditions of Use and the DANS Licence come into effect on 9 January 2020.
As of this date, as an EASY user you are required to comply with the new EASY General Terms and Conditions of Use. When using datasets in “Open Access for Registered Users” and “Restricted Access” categories, the conditions of the DANS Licence apply from this date.
