DANS presents at iPRES 2025

13 October 2025

We are proud to share that our Data Processing Team Leader Valentijn Gilissen will present a short paper at the upcoming International Conference on Digital Preservation (iPRES 2025) in Wellington, New Zealand. Valentijn’s presentation, titled “Caring about Enhanced Curation – What, Why, When, How and Who?”, is part of Paper Session 10 on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM local time.

In his talk, Valentijn explores how datamanagers at DANS integrate the CoreTrustSeal Curation Levels into their daily workflows. These curation levels provide a useful way to structure decisions about file formats, preservation actions, and FAIR data practices. The concept of Enhanced Curation helps to make these decisions explicit: what can be done, why it matters, when to act, how to do it, and who should take responsibility.

Valentijn will attend iPRES 2025 in person, representing DANS and connecting with the international digital preservation community to share experiences, gain new insights, and bring knowledge back to support ongoing work at DANS.

“Contributing to iPRES is a great opportunity to share DANS’ practical approach to Enhanced Curation,” says Valentijn Gilissen. “It’s also a chance to learn from peers worldwide and apply those lessons in our daily practice.”

For more information about the conference, visit the iPRES 2025 website.
