DANS organises the workshop “Data Lifecycles for Open Ecological and Biodiversity Research” together with the Netherlands Institute for Ecology (NIOO) and the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) of the University of Amsterdam. The workshop is a continuation of previous fruitful cooperations between these three institutes.
Young researchers, who want to optimize the different steps of their “research data life cycle” for open science, are the target group of the workshop. The trainers of the three institutes (Cees Hof, Antica Culina and Emiel van Loon) show which steps are important in this process, so that data and research will truly end up as open and reproducible information in the near future and in the longer term.
Topics that are discussed, and dealt with in the hands-on exercises, include the importance of standardisation of file formats, concepts and analysis steps. The use of Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) in a workflow and how to manage and archive information sources so that data can be found and reused.
