After a successful call in 2023/2024, the NWO will once again open a call to fund projects that address ambitions and challenges defined in each TDCC’s roadmap. The TDCC will facilitate and ensure that all project proposals are developed through a community-driven process; from general idea to full proposal to be submitted to NWO.
One of the roles of the TDCC in this call is to ensure that project proposals are developed through a community-driven process. They want to engage with project ideas (and the people proposing them) at an early stage and facilitate their development into full project proposals through an open and inclusive process. Over the upcoming months, the TDCC-SSH is organising several events to prepare, engage with, and stimulate project ideas the first of which is an unconference-style “Project Idea Generator” event in Amsterdam on 2 April 2025.
In order to submit a proposal to the NWO in Social Sciences and Humanities domains, applicants must go through the TDCC-SSH’s process. There are four main stages, leading up to one submission deadline for submitting proposals to NWO on 24 November 2025.
The first mandatory step for participating in the project process is to submit a brief, general description of your project idea. You do this by filling the Expression of Interest form, by 24 April 2025, 14:00 CEST. Submitting an expression of interest is not binding, but mandatory for following the process. All submissions will be shared publicly. Are you curious to know more? Read the detailed information about the steps on the TDCC-SSH Challenge Call 2025 webpage. As the project process progresses, the TDCC-SSH will keep you informed of important information, both through the website as well as mailing list. you can subscribe to the mailing list to get the updates!
