JSON-LD

JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) was developed by Manu Sporny, Gregg Kellogg, and Dave Longley, with contributions from the Linked Data community. It was officially standardized by the W3C in 2014 and continues to be maintained as a W3C Recommendation.

It’s a web-friendly RDF serialization format built on JSON. Its primary advantage is its compatibility with existing web development workflows. It works well with REST web services and applications that need structured data in a JSON format. It’s a W3C Recommendation.

Its goal is to express RDF graphs in a Linked Data format that is web-friendly. Linked Data is a way to create a network of standards-based, machine-readable data across websites.

JSON-LD is a preferred serialization for RDF data.
