Enhanced findability of data<\/h3>\n

It is DANS\u2019 mission to enhance and stimulate the reusability of research data and thus the quality of scientific research. This is applicable to all collections of DANS. Among the main tasks of DANS is “providing certified long-term archiving”. The DANS Data Stations offer domain-specific digital repositories for research data, reflecting the mission statement of DANS. Individual researchers or groups of researchers can store their datasets in a secure digital environment, with comprehensive metadata, version control, and tools to auto-complete information. Additionally, it will be possible to link datasets in this data station to data portals, platforms, and specific websites, making datasets even more findable and reusable for both scientific and non-scientific users. There is a Data Station for Archaeology<\/span>,\u00a0Social Sciences and Humanities<\/span>,\u00a0Physical & Technical Sciences<\/span>, and for Life Sciences<\/span>. Below, you will find all relevant information regarding data reuse and how to find, publish and (re)use data in our Data Stations.<\/p>\n

Easy to share, easy to protect<\/h3>\n

Ease of use is paramount in the Data Stations. It is possible to add new versions to an existing dataset: published datasets can be updated, and changes are tracked with version control. There are also tools to fill in information automatically. The data can be offered under all Creative Commons open licences, but it is also possible to protect (personal) data and determine per dataset whether other users can access the data. If a dataset should only be made available after a certain period of time, it can be stored with an embargo. It is easy to cite datasets and files using EndNote, RIS and BibTex. And logging in is easy with an institutional account via SURFconext or via an ORCID account. Finally, all deposited datasets are curated by the DANS Data processing Team.<\/p>\n

Dataverse<\/strong><\/h3>\n

DANS\u2019 domain-specific Data Stations use the Dataverse software<\/span>\u00a0developed by Harvard University. The software is open source and is continually developed by a large and diverse community. As a result, the data stations are constantly provided with new functionalities, relevant for the various scientific disciplines. Through close cooperation with the community, DANS contributes to the development and improvement of the Dataverse software.<\/p>\n
