Research Data Netherlands (RDNL), Digital Curation Centre (DCC) and the University of Edinburgh will organize the online course ‘Delivering Research Data Management Services’ for the fourth time. The registration is open.

The number of datasets entrusted to DANS is increasing rapidly. Only nine months ago, in October 2020, the 150,000th dataset was deposited. Now, there are over 175,000!

One year ago this month, the FAIR-Aware tool was launched. Created by DANS under the umbrella of the FAIRsFAIR project, the tool has been helping researchers become more aware of the FAIR data principles and learn how to increase the quality of their datasets by implementing them.

How do you create good training sessions? How do you meet the aims and the needs of your learners? What are the methods and tools to achieve that? These and other practical questions were discussed during one of the sessions of a 3-day long workshop focusing on instructor training organised by FAIRsFAIR, EOSC-Pillar, EOSC-Synergy en Ghent University. DANS is involved in both FAIRsFAIR and EOSC-Synergy.

From 15 to 18 June, the EOSC Symposium 2021 will take place. The online event revolves around: “Implementing an inclusive European Open Science Cloud”. DANS contributes in various ways.

Knowledge institutions, research funders and governments must focus on the wishes and needs of scientists when improving storage and availability of research data. Close collaboration among these parties and researchers is essential. This is what the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) advocates in its report ‘Storage and availability of data for research – from intentions to implementation’, published on 20 May 2021.

Over a course of one month, between 6 and 25 May 2021, over 50 reviewers from around the world attended the first CoreTrustSeal Assembly of Reviewer Workshop series, organised by the teams of the FAIRsFAIR project and CoreTrustSeal. DANS is involved as a coordinator and project partner in the FAIRsFAIR project, and through participation in the board of CoreTrustSeal.

This year, DANS is launching domain-specific Data Stations, which are places where researchers from various scientific disciplines can store, share and publish their data online, both during their research and beyond.
