Museums have unique recordings of spoken stories about artworks in their archives, but this ‘oral history’ is often difficult to access. DANS is one of the partners in the project Oral History – Stories at the Museum around Artworks (OH-SMArt). In this project, researchers from various Dutch institutions will greatly improve this accessibility. The project is financed by the Platform Digital Infrastructure for Social Sciences and Humanities (PDI-SSH).

Within the SSHOC project a question data bank for Ethnic and Migrant Minority Surveys has been developed. The pilot version of the EMM QDB is now live!

DANS Data Trail 21-04

On Thursday April 21, 2022, the DANS Data Trail Explore new tools for your FAIR toolkit took place online. During the workshop, we looked back on selected highlights that FAIRsFAIR has contributed to the international journey towards more FAIR data and zoomed in on two concrete tools: F-UJI – for assessing the FAIRness of data – and the training and education manual. We take you through the highlights of this workshop.

Save the Date! In September, DANS will be organising a train-the-trainer event on using Dataverse as an archive or discovery platform. The event is part of the CESSDA training activities and targeted at data stewards and data managers working at (CESSDA) archives or institutional repositories using Dataverse.

The NWO Domain Board Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) has decided to expand the opportunities for researchers in the Open Competition. The funding instrument will soon be given an XS variant, which will be opened before the summer.

The SSHOC League of Data (SSHOC LoD) is a pilot gamification of the CESSDA Data Management Expert Guide® (DMEG) developed within the Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud (SSHOC) project. The game supports and motivates researchers to publish their research data by providing guidance for the publishing process.

Are you part of a research team, library or institution committed to Open Science and FAIR data? Are you a technology enabler or expert facilitating data-driven research? Do you want to organise a training session on the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)? On 25 May 2022, EOSC Future is holding an online workshop from 12:00 to 14:00 CEST on ‘Preparing training on EOSC’.

The FAIRsFAIR project has created implementation and adoption stories of the FAIR data principles. DANS has contributed to this both by compiling parts of a guide for research performing organisations to establish the capabilities to put the FAIR data principles in practice, and, by reporting on use cases in which the FAIR data principles are implemented.
