As Head of Secretariat, Wim is responsible for the day-to-day management of EUDAT and for coordinating the development and operation of its research data infrastructure. EUDAT is a long-standing European collaboration of research data and e-infrastructure providers, of which DANS is a member.
Wim brings extensive experience in research data management, digital research infrastructures and European Open Science initiatives. During his five years as CTO at DANS, he has played a leading role in the further development of the organisation’s technical infrastructure. This includes the transition to DANS’ domain-specific Data Stations based on Dataverse and contributions to a wide range of European projects supporting the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This background provides a strong foundation for his new role at EUDAT, where he will further strengthen collaboration and the development of shared research data services at the European level.
His connection with EUDAT spans many years. Wim has represented DANS in the EUDAT Council and has more recently served on the EUDAT Executive Board, contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation.
In his new role, Wim will focus on strengthening EUDAT’s contribution to the EOSC Federation. Priorities include further developing EUDAT as an EOSC Node, expanding collaboration with partners and members, and supporting sustainable cross-border research data services.
We congratulate Wim on this appointment and look forward to his continued contribution to both DANS and the wider European Open Science community.
