CoreTrustSeal certification of DANS archive renewed

16 September 2021

Recently, DANS managed to renew the CoreTrustSeal for another three years. With the certification of its digital archive, DANS is one of the first organisations worldwide with a renewed certification.

With the renewed certification, DANS shows that reliability and sustainability of data are guaranteed. In 2018, DANS obtained the new CoreTrustSeal quality mark for the first time and now it has been successfully renewed. For the renewal of the quality mark, DANS completed the self-assessment, based on the sixteen CoreTrustSeal Data Repositories Requirements. The self-assessment has been published online by CoreTrustSeal.

DANS is also closely involved worldwide in the development of standards for certification. As a Regular Member of the World Data System, Board member of CoreTrustSeal and partner in various (inter)national collaborations and projects, much expertise is gained in this area. This expertise is then shared with national and international digital archives, policy officers and researchers, as is the case with the online certification guide for digital archives (Wegwijzer Certificering, in Dutch). This tool supports heritage institutions in the pursuit of CoreTrustSeal certification for their digital archives.
