Events about the implications and application of the GDPR for research on 30 and 31 August

20 July 2018

On 30 and 31 August RDNL is organizing two events concerning the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for researchers and research bodies: ‘GDPR in research – what does it mean for research institutions?’ and ‘GDPR? … What does it mean for my research and what should I do?’

The event ‘GDPR in research – what does it mean for research institutions?’ takes place on August 30th and focuses on the practical significance of the GDPR for research institutions and in particular for researchers working with personal research data. This event discusses services that must be offered to effectively support the research community and how they should be implemented. Anyone who is interested in GDPR implications for projects involving personal research data, especially those responsible for providing support to researchers, is welcome.

‘GDPR? What does it mean for my research and what do I have to do?’ takes place on August 31st and focuses on everyone who works with personal research data, or anyone who directly supports those who work with personal research data. During this event legal changes in the processing of personal data will be discussed, with the emphasis on practical implications for research with personal data and what needs to be done for this. In addition, the afternoon part of the event will consist of practical exercises with data encryption and data anonymisation, so that the participants can immediately implement their lessons in daily practice.
