DANS Data Trail Workshop: CoreTrustSeal for DataverseNL partners

Event date:

16 September 2021

Location: Online

On Thursday, September 16, DANS organises a workshop for the institutions affiliated with DataverseNL, about what is involved in applying for CoreTrustSeal.

An increasing number of national and international funding bodies are imposing conditions on open data and data management policies when awarding research grants. One of these conditions is that research data must be placed in ‘Trustworthy Digital Repositories (TDR)’. One way to become such a TDR is certification by CoreTrustSeal, an internationally recognised basic certification for trustworthy repositories.

On Thursday, September 16, DANS organises a workshop for the institutions affiliated with DataverseNL, about what is involved in applying for CoreTrustSeal. CoreTrustSeal does not only look at the repository software, such as Dataverse, but also at the policies of the repository and how data management procedures are documented. Because this is different for the various institutions within DataverseNL, each institution will have to apply for the CoreTrustSeal itself.

Besides general information about CoreTrustSeal, we will pay attention to the use case of the University of Tilburg, which recently went through the certification process. In the break-out we look at how institutions can best get started themselves.
