Nominations open for the 2026 Sarah Jones Award

21 October 2025

DANS is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Sarah Jones Award, established by the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in memory of Sarah Jones, visionary advocate for open science, data stewardship and international collaboration.

Recognising collaborative excellence

Established in 2024, the award recognises individuals or teams who have made exceptional contributions to fostering collaboration in open science. It celebrates those who build bridges across disciplines and communities, strengthen research infrastructure, and advance the FAIR and open data movement. The award is open to all sectors and is not limited to RDA members, though active engagement in or impact on the RDA community is encouraged.

In the spirit of collaboration

At DANS, we believe the Sarah Jones Award plays a vital role in recognising the often unseen labour that sustains open science — the coordination, trust-building and community engagement that make data sharing and reuse possible. We are proud that Ingrid Dillo serves on the selection committee, which gives DANS the opportunity to contribute to this award, that so clearly reflects our values.

Call for nominations

We warmly encourage colleagues across the global research data community to nominate deserving candidates — and to help celebrate the collaborative spirit that Sarah Jones so passionately embodied.

Nominations are open until 14 June 2026. Full details are available on the RDA website.
