Ferguson will closely align with ‘The National Coordination Point Research Data Management’ (LCRDM), as LCRDM, is the Dutch regional node for ‘Research Data Alliance’ (RDA). In the Dutch context this role will support the growth and ongoing development of national-level participation in RDA: The Netherlands are a regional RDA partner. The role will work closely with key local stakeholders as well as have strong connections with key stakeholders in the Global RDA community.
In advance of the upcoming RDA Virtual Plenary (April 7-11), Ferguson will host an informal online coffee chat to occur just before the Opening Session on the afternoon of April 7th. Those interested can sign up here.
DANS and the RDA
Hosting the Community Development Manager position builds upon DANS’ involvement in the RDA across a variety of capacities. In addition to being an institutional RDA member, we are a partner in RDA Tiger. Our Senior Advisor Ingrid Dillo serves as the Board President of RDA Europe, and several DANS colleagues participate in various Interest Groups and Working Groups. DANS has previously hosted RDA in NL events, including an RDA-NL meet-up that took place in The Hague in June 2024.
About RDA
The RDA community is global and diverse in nature, and the heart of the RDA is its community of over 14,500 professionals. The work of RDA is conducted through self-organised and vetted Interest Groups (IGs), Working Groups (WGs) and Communities of Practice (CoP) that discuss and build solutions (best practices, guidelines, standards, etc.) that solve real data sharing and re-use problems. RDA currently has over 100 active groups (IGs, WGs and CoPs). RDA creates impact through both its work and its role as a “town square” for the data infrastructure community. In the RDA strategic plan (2024-2028) there is special attention given to increasing the global footprint of RDA.
