Hub for Aggregated Social History (HASH)

In this project, an infrastructure is constructed within which different sources with information of municipalities are integrated. It enables researchers to search quickly and simply for information regarding various municipalities in several years. The challenge for this project is to create central access to data sets that are distributed across countries and have different structures.

At the moment, it is time-consuming to search for information on a certain municipality in a specific year. HASH will provide a portal in which three existing databases (Historische Databank Nederlandse Gemeenten (HDNG), Volkstellingen and the Landbouwenquete 1889) are integrated so that searching will be simplified. The challenge for this project lies in the fact that the databases will be managed at different locations by different parties.
