Data Seal of Approval

Data Archiving & Networked Services (DANS) has been working on the data seal of approval since 2005: minimum requirements for (scientific) data archives. In consultation with various archives and scientific institutions, the first version was distributed within limited circles at the end of 2007. Early 2008, the Data Seal of Approval (DSA) was presented internationally.

We would like to refer interested parties to the site, where a PDF file with the 16 guidelines can be downloaded: http://www.datasealofapproval.org. In January 2009, an international forum was composed to give shape to the certification of the seal of approval. End 2010 an online tool was launched that guides applicants through the required self evaluation.

DANS staff is very willing to illustrate the data seal of approval at your own location.
